An unlucky run left Horsham racing sensation Surprise Baby with a disappointing finish at the Turnbull Stakes at Flemington on Saturday.
After settling to the back of the field from barrier one, jockey Craig Williams was unable to find the outside at the right time in the $500,000 race.

Surprise Baby finished strongly across the last 100 metres but ultimately finished in ninth place, several lengths off winner Verry Elleegant.
During the post-race analysis, announcers said Surprise Baby "didn't get a lot of luck" in just his second race back after long spell.
The race however did little to detract punters from the Baby's Melbourne Cup chances.
The six-year-old remains around the $9 mark for the biggest day on the racing calendar.
