Reacting to the coronavirus outbreak in South Australia, the team will undertake COVID-19 testing at two sites on the South Australian border.
A RRTT from Ballarat will establish a testing site at Nhill Trailer Exchange on the Western Highway, and at Edenhope, according to a Ballarat Health Services media release.
Voluntary asymptomatic testing will be available to interstate truck drivers at this site from Thursday, as part of the state's ongoing monitoring of the South Australian COVID-19 situation.
The RRTT is being supported by local health services and councils in both locations.
Victoria will close its border with South Australia for 48 hours from Thursday night, after fragments of COVID-19 were detected in wastewater along freight corridors.
A permit system is expected to come into effect from Sunday.
BHS chief executive Dale Fraser said in a statement the outbreak was a reminder to the community to stay vigilant, and get a test if they have even the mildest symptoms.
"Our community has collectively worked so hard to be free of COVID-19, however we have witnessed some complacency that is concerning given that we know how easily the virus can be transmitted," he said.
"The situation in Adelaide is a reminder that we should all be on our guard and following the COVID-19 restrictions like mask wearing and physical distancing for the safety of our community.
Wimmera Health Care Group has issued testing advice for any travellers who have visited South Australia since November 7.
People who have been to South Australia, but NOT metropolitan Adelaide can be tested for COVID-19 at the WHCG's testing clinic. They only have to isolate if they are showing COVID symptoms.
If people HAVE BEEN to metropolitan Adelaide, they should be tested and isolate at home until they receive a negative result, regardless of whether they are showing symptoms.
The clinic is open Monday to Friday from 1-4pm and on weekends between 9am and 12 noon.
