The Country Fire Authority has declared Tuesday, December 1 a day of total fire ban in the Wimmera and Mallee.
Temperatures are forecasted to peak around 30 degrees, but the potential for strong winds has seen the CFA declare a severe fire danger rating.
No fires can be lit in the open air between 00:01 and 23:59 hours on December 1.
The CFA has also advised people living in areas at risk of fire to activate their bush fire plan.

A total fire ban declared for CFA district 17 on Saturday drew criticism from farmers, who said conditions in the southern Wimmera were "really good for harvesting".
Horsham farmer Tim Rethus said he was concerned the threshold for a total fire ban day was getting too low.
"I fully respect a total fire ban, but we have to be careful that we don't start incrementally tightening the restrictions to the point where our jobs become nigh-on impossible," he said.
"You've got to still be able to let farmers do their job. I don't mean harvesting on super hot days, but we have to be reasonable, and weigh up the risks."
