Horsham City Councilors unanimously voted to approve an application for project funding under the Victorian Government's Building Safer Communities Funding program.

At a special council meeting on March 1, councilor Penny Flynn said the new boardwalk would make the park safer for the whole community.

"I think during the lockdown, what we have experienced in the last 12 months is that I myself have used the river more and I have seen other people use the river more.
"So I think this will encourage people to walk more, ride more and encourage people to get outside."
The Building Safer Communities Program provides grants to local councils and not-for-profit organisations to undertake projects designed to deter crime and increase safety in public places.
