The Warrack Eagles ended Horsham's unbeaten run with a close 4-point victory at home, ensuring they head off to Ararat next week with some momentum.
Ararat and Dimboola played out a tense match in the rain in Dimboola, with the home side coming away with a narrow win.
Meanwhile, the Giants continued their strong run of form, comfortably defeating Stawell by 17 points in an encounter at Central Park.
According to coaches Shannon Cross and Ash Grace, the Saints are hitting their strides after a decisive win over the Nhill Tigers.
READ MORE:
"We fought strongly all four quarters, we didn't drop our heads and we put together four solid quarters," Cross said.
"We had good defensive pressure, and our attack worked really well together," Grace added.
In the first quarter, the game was neck and neck, the Saints going into the first break just four points up.
It wasn't until the second quarter that the Saints took control of the match, shooting 18 goals to 6 to go into the main break 16-point leaders.
Nhill wrestled back in a tense third term, scoring 8 points to the Saints' 13, but the Saints lead was too great, and they came away 28 point winners.
We're really starting to hit our straps.
- Ash Grace
The coaches singled out goalkeeper Kiana Marshman's performance as one of the team's best.
"Our combinations are starting to work really well. Abby [Hallam] and Jess Farrow also combined well together in goals," Cross said.
"It's coming together now, it took a little while at the start, just because some of us have played together for a long time and now we've got a few new ones in," Grace concurred.
"But we're really starting to hit our straps which we're really happy with," she said.
The coaches praised Nhill's intensity throughout the match.
OTHER NEWS:
"Their intensity was really good and they kept it up for the whole game," Cross said.
"Their competitiveness in that first half was really strong," Grace added.
The Tigers toiled hard throughout the match, but the Saints seemed to have all the answers.
Grace said that the Saints wouldn't try to change their winning formula going into next week's clash with reigning premiers Minyip-Murtoa.
"It's just about playing our short game, play our control game, everything we did well today," Grace said.
