The Giants won by 13-points in the end, with coach Mikayla George thrilled with her side's effort.
"The girls played really great so I was really proud," George said.
"They're a very tight unit, very strong and a powerhouse of a club with a lot of depth.
"It was nice to come up against them today and just see where the standard is and what the benchmark is."
George said it was her sides ability to play "true, hard, Mallee netball" that got them over the line.

"The girls just got around one another, the talk was there right from the warm up and they did it for one another and for the club."
"We had our women's health day today, so there was a lot of pink and a lot of ladies sitting out on the deck drinking champagne overlooking the game and the A Grade girls really dug deep and did it for the crowd and the supporters."
George said although the side hasn't lost it "still has a lot of room for improvement".
"It's nice to know where that benchmark is now and what we can do to keep bettering ourselves," she said.
Brylee Schache continued her dominant form for the Giants with George highlighting her performance, while Tamika Mentha played well for the Demons.
"Best on court went to Brylee Schache," George said.
"She played in the defence, goal defence and goal keeper.
"She's just a real powerhouse, she stood nice and strong the whole game and didn't get sucked into Horsham's game at all."
"She just played her own style of netball which allowed her to get multiple intercepts and get a few don't-argues."
At ANZAC Park the third-placed Warrack Eagles were upset by the sixth-placed Dimboola Roos, who won by 11-points.
OTHER NEWS:
Warrack came out of the blocks fast with a six-point lead after the first quarter, however the Roos clawed their way back to a 29 to 23 lead after three quarters.
The win will give the roos a lot of confidence, knowing they can knock off a big scalp like the Eagles and propels them closer to the top four.
For the Eagles Sarah Spicer was best on court, while Emily Polack starred for the Roos.
At Ararat, the seventh-placed Rats had a convincing 20-point win over the (fourth-placed) Horsham Saints.
The win is a huge effort by the Rats after they were dismantled by Warrack last round and it pushes the Saints down to sixth on the ladder.
Delaney McLoughlan (36 goals) continued her good shooting form, while Tayla Borrelli was named as their best.
In Minyip the Burras got agonisingly close to their first win of the season against Stawell, but in the end the Warriors proved 6-points too good.
Stawell led at all the breaks, however the Burras pushed them right until the end.
Georgia McLennan scored 30 goals for the Burras and was named their best.
