Wallace last went into a season with less than 12 months to go on his contract in 2018 - and even then he had an option with the Titans in his favour.

After reported interest from Newcastle, the ex-Queensland State of Origin prop chose to stay with the Titans, signing a new deal which not only included his option for 2019 but three more seasons on top of that.

Back then, Garth Brennan was the Titans coach while COVID-19 and coronavirus were terms only familiar to infectious disease specialists.

As the Titans underwent an on-and-off field overhaul under Justin Holbrook, Wallace was in danger of being cast aside.

Axed by Holbrook just three matches into the 2020 season, Wallace knuckled down and forced his way back into the coach's thoughts.

His from resulted in 25 appearances for the Titans this year, including a finals appearance - the most games for Wallace since his final campaign at Brisbane before joining his hometown club in 2016.

It's that kind of consistency the 30-year-old is hoping can secure him a new deal as the Titans begin the journey to realise chief executive Steve Mitchell's vow they will have at least two premiership triumphs in the next nine seasons.

"I started here in 2008 in SG Ball, so I'd love to be able to finish here," Wallace told AAP.

"If that's the case, that'd be absolutely fantastic, but obviously it's not just up to me unfortunately. It's up to the club and it's up to a few other people.

"If I'm just playing my best footy and doing what I do best for the team that obviously puts myself in a good position.

"Just keep taking steps ahead and steps forward and be a bit more consistent with winning games and be that top four team, rather than just a top eight team and just scraping in there.

"We want to be in there comfortably next year."
