Perfect conditions for cricket meant that Colts had no hesitation in batting first after winning the toss. Captain Newell may have been questioning this decision early on after the loss of two quick wickets getting the visitors confidence and rubbish chat up.
Some solid batting from Josh McCluskey to take the shine off the ball in his 34 ball stay gave some hope to the home side and showed some benefits of playing the longer format. Luke Miller on debut also showed great poise and skill with the bat in a partnership with Oliver Potter to bring Colts back into the match.

Tight bowling and some good catching for Mountain Ants kept the pressure on Colts, and they were eventually bowled out for 74 in the 32nd over. Miller and Potter both top scored with 12, while Austin Simpson also stuck it out for 11 not out from 30 balls.
In reply, Mountain Ants openers McKenry and Foster were patient in seeing off the opening attack of Newell and Weidemann. It took the introduction of Ollie Inkster to break the partnership, bringing keeper Miller into the match to remove Foster.
Inkster then set about causing a mini collapse for the visitors, combining with some good catching a very questionable shot selection to have the Mountain Ants on the back foot at 6/45 when opener McKenry was dismissed for a well made 24 from 70.
The drinks break came at the right time for the visitors, as it allowed them to regroup and build plans for the remainder of the innings. Xavier Bone and Jobe Dickinson, 24 not out each, saw the Mountain Ants get home for 3 wins on the trot and make the under 16 competition this season very interesting.
For Colts, Ollie Inkster was the star with the ball, taking 3-2 from 3 overs, while Luke Miller looked very tidy behind the stumps with 3 catches.
Friday nights U14s saw the Bullants v Saints Black at Noradjuha. The Nardo's won by 9 wickets with good fielding holding the Saints to 78 runs, with their top scorer on 17 Callum Jackson. For the Bullants Nic Gardiner top scorer on 23 off 8 balls, Carter McKenry also with a handy 21.
Other U14 round winners included Colts, Dunmunkle, Homers Red and Homers Blue.
Round 6 of the U12s saw the Jung Yellow side with a very early start to the day as they went on a road trip to Nhill. West Wimmera were first to the crease and made the most of the beautiful weather conditions and immaculate oval.

The second innings saw the Tigers chase a solid 98 made by West Wimmera, but Rhys Penny was determined to shatter that score making an impressive 20 runs with both Cody Stewart and Noah Bouma finishing with 16.
Clayton certainly shone for West Wimmera taking 2-1 whilst Cooper 1-7 and Leith 1-12 completed the top 3 bowlers for the innings. A great game, played in beautiful conditions which saw Jung Yellow walk away with the win by 15 runs.
