A 32-year-old man, named in media reports as Tye Silver, died at the Bridgewater house about 1am on Tuesday.
Police say he was shot in the upper body in what they describe as a "targeted attack".
Police launched a large scale search for the alleged offender and the weapon, arresting a 23-year-old on Tuesday evening.
Police have charged him with murder and he has been remanded in custody to appear in Hobart Magistrates Court on Thursday.
