The vehicle rolled down an embankment off the Bass Highway on Thursday afternoon during the crash, believed to have occurred when the other vehicle attempted to merge.
The collision occurred just outside of Elizabeth Town on the way to Devonport, roughly halfway from Launceston.
Mr Morrison was not involved in the accident, and no-one has been killed.
The two vehicles were travelling in the same direction, and Tasmania Police confirmed it was investigating the crash.
"Circumstances surrounding the crash are being investigated, however initial enquiries indicate that the Triton has collided with the rear of the police vehicle, while attempting to merge," its statement said.
"Four police officers (a man and a woman from AFP, and two men from Tasmania Police) received non-life-threatening injuries, after their vehicle rolled down an embankment.
"As is normal process for a crash involving police, the Tasmania Police Professional Standards Unit has been advised and will monitor the investigation."
FEDERAL ELECTION 2022 MUST-READS:
In statement on Thursday afternoon, Mr Morrison described the accident as "terrible" and said he was relieved the officers had been transferred to hospital.
"Our police do an amazing job in keeping us all safe. I am incredibly grateful to all the police who look after me and my family," he said.
"We have all got to know each other over the years. They are selfless, professional, and incredibly generous. I hope to hear further good news about their condition.
"Ken and I also send our thanks, love and best wishes to them and their families."
The driver of the other vehicle - a Mitsubishi Triton - was uninjured.
Paramedics and Tasmanian Police had slowed traffic when responding to the incident and had pulled the victims from the crash.
The use of oxygen and other medical equipment could be seen from the road.
A spokesperson for Mr Morrison said four police officers were conscious when they were transferred.
"Family members of the officers have been contacted and are being kept informed of their condition," they said.
The collision occurred as Mr Morrison travelled to Burnie for a defence industries event as part of the federal election campaign.
The Prime Minister had been travelling from an event in Longford earlier in the day.
The event has been cancelled, with Mr Morrison's entourage and the trailing press pack redirected to the airport.
All campaigning events have been cancelled for the remainder of the day.

Home Affairs Minister Karen Andrews wished the four officers a speedy recovery.
