"We're really pleased with the crowd and the performance," she said. "We think there were at least 2000 people in attendance at Sawyer Park, Horsham."
Mrs McDonald said the performance atmosphere was fairly surreal.
"The audience didn't know what to expect, they were just absolutely blown away by the magnificent performance from Strange Fruit," she said.
"Many people had never been exposed to an aerial performance before, so it was quite exciting.
"We had Strange Fruit chief executive Michelle Wild and Arts Victoria dignitaries come from Melbourne for the performance and I was fielding calls from Warracknabeal, Nhill and Dimboola from people wanting to confirm where the performance was so they could be there.
"It attracted a lot of attention."
Mrs McDonald said another highlight of the weekend was festival opener Cinema Fiasco, a cult cinema performance featuring 1970s disaster film 'Skyjacked' and comedians Geoff Wallis and Janet McLeod.
"Cinema Fiasco was fantastic," Mrs McDonald said.
"One bloke described it as warm and then cold because the film was so bad, but it contrasted nicely with the comedians' commentary.
"It was really remarkable and something different for a Horsham audience.
"Horsham Arts Council members were outstanding in their pre-entertainment performance as flight crew and remained in character throughout."
Mrs McDonald reminded people a range of exhibitions was open to view this week, including former Horsham Regional Art Galley curator Trevor Smith's exhibition of quirky and colourful crotchet work at Cafe Bagdad.
"Our Wet Wimmera will be on display at 65 Firebrace Street, Horsham, and Galleries on the Side works will be displayed at businesses in Firebrace Street," she said.
"People can vote for their people's choice work throughout the week."
Mrs McDonald said photos taken as part of a photo muster on Saturday would be displayed at Cafe Chickpea, Pynsent Street, Horsham, today.
