The new street choir, based in Horsham, hosted a meet and greet this week.
Founder Max Pietruschka started the choir this month with the aim of promoting community inclusion through music.
The group is based on the Choir of Hard Knocks.
Mr Pietruschka said he was hoping for 10 people at the event on Monday night.
“We had 32 turn up, and eight people sent me a message saying they couldn’t make it but would come to our first choir session,” he said.
“I am amazed.”
Mr Pietruschka said the choir would meet on June 20 at the Horsham CWA hall and sing together for the first time.
Weekly choir practices will follow.
Mr Pietruschka said singing experience was not required to join the choir.
He said people could call him on 0412 522 989, email info@voicesofwimmera.org.au or visit www.voicesofwimmera.org.au for more information.
