The Saints have turned it around for the 2016 season, after winning just two games last season.
“I am definitely happy with our progress from last season,” Milner said.
“We have put a good program in place, the team has evolved and taken it really well.”
The Saints defeated the Bombers in round six by 46 points. The team then went on to take home a 19-point victory against the Bombers in the semi-final.
“We have beaten them every time this year, but that being said, finals is always a step up,” Milner said.
“You can’t rely on your past performances. I have confidence in our guys and what they can do when they focus and play our brand of footy.”
The Saints have a few sore bodies but boast a full list ahead of the game.
William Middleton, Lewis Thompson and Daniel Richardson are key players for the Saints.
“They are all in the midfield and are the leadership group of the team,” Milner said.
“We are looking forward to the game. I am a bit nervous given it is my first one as a coach.
“I am happy with the guys I have around.”
It is the first year Milner has coached the Saints under-17 side.
“I am really proud of the guys,” he said.
Bombers coach Heath Francis said his side would focus on getting a good start.
“We are going in reasonably confident that we can mix it with them,” he said.
“They have beaten us twice but anything can happen in finals.”
The Bombers managed to cause an upset in the 2015 grand final when the side beat the undefeated Swifts.
The Bombers will look to captain James Gregg in the midfield, Remy Cross up forward and James Pipkorn to run and carry in the backline.
“Over half our side played in last year’s premiership,” Francis said.
“Those guys are as keen as mustard to be doing it again and the others are certainly up and about looking forward to it.
“Our training has been short and sharp, making sure the guys are cherry red for the game.”
Aidan Jones will make a return for the Bombers after missing last week due to an ankle injury.
“We can’t take anything for granted. The Saints are a very even team across every line. We just have to give it our best shot,” Francis said.
