Salter, a former league best and fairest winner and integral part of last season’s grand final loosing side, had a baby in March and has wasted no time in returning to the court.
“I had never made any decisions about playing or not this season – I was due to have the baby in March and everything went smoothly so I was able to come back soon,” she said.
“My first child was six months old when I went back to play and my baby is 10 weeks old now. I’m feeling a lot slower but I’m still able to contribute and hopefully I can get fitter with a few more games.”
Salter said there was plenty of excitement surrounding the new-look A Grade side.
“There is so much potential in the group – the team has new combinations but the faces aren’t too new to the club,” she said. “Everyone knows everyone and gets along well. I think we will keep getting better.”
In her sixth season at the Southern Roos, Salter has previously played for the Horsham Demons and in South Australia.
“I really enjoyed my time at the Demons and playing in Adelaide was very challenging,” she said.
“Harrow-Balmoral is very much a family club and I’m really enjoying that now. At different stages of my life the clubs I’ve been at were great, now I love going to the football and netball with my family.
“I am just happy to be out there and still having a chance to play.”
