Two teams from Horsham, the Heat and the Rockets, as well as teams from Stawell, Ararat and Warracknabeal are in Adelaide for the games.
Rockets team helper Jeff Pekin said it has been a great start to the week-long event.
“There is anywhere between 60-70 competitors from the Wimmera and they have all caught up with their friends and it’s going well,” he said.
“Basically all of the Rockets have medals so far and we also have an independent competitor in Madee Townsend out of Horsham who has done well too.”
Heat team manager Jake Myerscough said there was a great atmosphere among competitors.
“You get along with all the teams which is fantastic and we’ve had the discos and stuff each night so you get to know all the staff as well,” he said.
“They all love the social side of it. The sport gives them a chance to compete in events they don’t normally get to and they are pretty competitive.
“We had the parade on Monday and then indoor sports in the afternoon, and Tuesday was swimming sports.”
The teams are resting on Wednesday and will wrap up with athletics on Thursday and team sports on Friday.
