Tickner travels into Horsham from Sheep Hills three times a week during the summer, for tennis practice and the Central Wimmera Tennis Association competition on Saturday.
"This time of the year, we're playing about three times a week," Tickner said.
"We play it all year around too - sometimes indoors on a Monday, so we're in the habit of just playing all the time.
"I just really enjoy doing it. We might have just five or six of us, but we all enjoy swinging around and having a hit."
Tickner was given a Central Park life membership in 2018 after more than two decades of passionate playing and service to the club.
He has helped in a myriad of different ways, including being treasurer of the club for seven years.
"I was pretty happy with that," Tickner said. "I suppose I've been associated with the club constantly, going to meetings, organising and that sort of thing.
"It's been great to be around."
And Tickner, 53, said he had no plans of giving up tennis any time soon.
He said he took solace watching fellow Central Park members and competitors in the CWTA playing well into their 80s.
"I'm only 53, so I'm hoping I've got the opportunity to keep playing until the 80 range," he said.
"I'm really enjoying it and it's a good positive of the week. It's a really good social thing, and my body is feeling good."
Tickner will take to the court with fourth-placed Central Park Blue in A Grade this weekend, for a crucial clash against the third-placed Haven Blue.
Just two points separate the two sides on the ladder, while Laharum are nipping at Central Park Blue's heels, four points further back in fifth.
