For the first time in 13 weeks I had the whole house to myself last Friday, as all three of my teenage daughters went back to school full-time and I didn't head off to work outside our home.

Thirteen weeks with the house full of offspring, then suddenly, freedom.
I'm not going to lie to you, that day I indulged in two glasses of wine with my lunch, which I enjoyed alongside my husband at one of our favourite restaurants in town.
I threw caution to the wind, let my hair down and kicked up my heels, and what did that look like?
It looked like me getting a Tex-Mex casserole in the slow cooker before school drop-off, then spending the morning running around all the local shops ticking items off my 13-year-old baby girl's birthday list, because she turns 14 in a week...hair brush, infuser, Ugg boots, clothes.

It looked like me trying to sort out our complicated telephone account.
It looked like me dramatically yanking at the locked door of our favourite lunch time rendezvous before noon, because I was so desperate to dine, then not having to see a menu as the local family who provide such fabulous service knew exactly which meals and drinks my husband and I needed .. so much.
It looked like me realizing that I hadn't written this column, so lots of mad tapping on my laptop in front of the fully stoked fire in the lounge room, before eating half a block of Darryl Lea Rocky Road without sharing, and washing it down with a hot cup of tea, then falling asleep in the armchair before the oven alarm woke me for school pick-up and chiropractic appointments for the girls.
That's what my day off looked like; pretty madcap but absolutely gorgeous.
The night before the big day was just like Christmas Eve, I was so excited. A whole six hours to myself without having to nag or be nagged, how relaxing and enticing?
Six hours never went so fast.
In no time at all we girls were reunited and the nagging from me to 'get off your device' resumed as did their requests for hair appointments, chocolate and take-away food.
Gosh it was fun while it lasted though.
