Just under three weeks before the border's scheduled reopening, that state's premier Steven Marshall has announced this will be postponed indefinitely.
This is in response to Victoria's recent spike in COVID-19 cases (no new cases in the Wimmera, mind you).
Even for those that have been classed essential travellers, and can cross more freely, the border is playing a larger part in their lives than ever before.
Just ask Prudence, the hairdresser from Kaniva, or Emma, the new mum from Lillimur. Everyone living in a border community has a story to tell, especially now they need to register their intention to travel between the two states online.
If you'd like us to tell yours or that of someone you care about, email newsdesk@mailtimes.com.au. That is what we are here for, and need to be here for, now more than ever.
