A statement released by the health service said;
"As the number of COVID-19 cases rise in Victoria health services across our region are implementing stricter COVID-19 precautionary measures," it read.
"At 12 o'clock today (Friday) SRH closed its hospital and residential care facilities to visitors.This has been an extremely difficult decision but made in the best interest of our community.
"We urge everyone to work with us to adhere to this request, and to contact the nurse on duty for special consideration in end-of-life and palliative care circumstances.
"We will continue to monitor the situation closely and regularly review the restrictions implemented."
