Construction sites across the Wimmera have been sitting empty, as the industry in regional areas faces its first proper halt in business since the initial lockdowns of 2020.

Under the current lockdown rules, all construction and building work must stop apart from absolute emergencies.
Locks Construction director Stephen Wick said the lockdown was an inconvenience for completing their current backlog of jobs.
"Three days, that's neither here nor there. If Daniel Andrews decided to take it out to the 26th, then that will change a few things," he said.
"But most contracts that we have now have a COVID cause in them, and most people you work for a pretty reasonable.

"We probably shouldn't even be locked down, but as Dan the man said he can't stop people from Melbourne going regional so he has to lock the whole thing down.
"It's a pain in the butt but it is what it is. Not much that you can do about it."
In a statement, Master Builders Victoria chief executive officer Rebecca Casson said the restrictions were "the harshest lockdown our industry has experienced during the pandemic".
"And, for the first time, our wider industry will be almost completely stopped. It's a step beyond the Stage 4 restrictions we endured through much of 2020," she said.
"This is incredibly disappointing, especially given our sector's very strong safety record. And, if this lockdown was to go on any longer than five days, there would be catastrophic economic ramifications."

Plazzer Building director Rob Plazzer said there was a concern if the lockdown continued past the five days building sites will start deteriorating.
"Some sites, if it has got half a roof on, they don't want to leave it for too long. If you get some bad weather it could do some damage," he said.
"Sites with open trenches waiting for concrete pours. If they are left open for too long and we get some wet weather it could cave everything in."
"We are all at home. It is alright if it only for three days. But he's (Daniel Andrews) got a history of extending these things."
Restrictions are due to end at 11:59pm on Wednesday night.
