A string of injuries to senior players has seen Horsham place faith in the younger brigade.
Leading the charge for the new-look side is captain Georgia Hiscock.
The defender has starred for her team in the first half of the season and said the new responsibility came unexpectedly.
"It was really exciting and a great surprise to be named captain," Hiscock said.
"I love all the girls, so it was nice to get that recognition, and I've been at the club for a few years now and played A Grade there for a while, so it was really nice."
Hiscock started with Horsham United and decided to stay in the Wimmera league and move to Horsham when her original club merged with Natimuk.
Since then, the young Demon has racked up plenty of games for her new home as she juggled several commitments, both sporting and otherwise.
"I was away at uni last season and only got to play a couple of games for the club, so I'm just loving being back and being able to play each week," she said. "It's nice to have some consistency, rather than just playing now and then."
Hiscock is also an accomplished basketball player, lining up for the Lady Hornets.
"The two sports are so different, but I'm hoping I can take some of the leadership things I'm learning into the new season when that starts," she said.
Horsham welcomed two new A Grade coaches, in Mel Scott and Amanda Worthy, at the start of the season. Their team's captain praised the pair for making her role easier.
"I've been really well supported. The coaches in Mel and Amanda have been amazing," Hiscock said.
"They're really supportive during training and the games and ask for my opinions, even with naming the squad. They've been really good with letting me have a say, despite my age."
With plenty of netball still on the horizon, Hiscock said she was looking forward to what's to come.
"It seems to be different every season, but it's really exciting," she said. "I have absolutely loved my time at the Horsham Demons and still do. It's a great family club, and you're always supported, no matter what."
The Demons host the Warrack Eagles this weekend.
The sides sit third and fourth respectively, but level on points. The winners of the contest could move to as high as second place if other results fall in line.
In other contests, unbeaten Minyip-Murtoa faces its biggest test against second-place Ararat, Dimboola hosts the Horsham Saints, and Nhill travels to Stawell.
