They are all unique, fun, beautiful people and it is my joy to know them, to live with them, to love them.
Sometimes, one of them needs me more than the others.
One of them might have hurt themselves or have had a bad day, or just need to be heard. In that moment, I focus my thoughts and attention towards that one person, so they know they are seen, heard and loved.
I don't care for or love any of the other members of my family any less.
But right then, one of them gets my undivided attention.

Right now, many of us are growing in our awareness of the pain, abuse and suffering which black people have and are experiencing.
It's not enough to respond that "all lives matter".
Such a response only belittles and undermines the cries of people who have already been through more hurt than anyone should go through in a lifetime.
If we are willing to declare that all lives matter - which they do - then there needs to be a concentrated effort to ensure no race is treated as though they matter less, just because of the colour of their skin.
I am largely ignorant when it comes to the plight of black people, whether here in Australia, in America, or anywhere in the world.
I am seeking to hear, to learn, to understand, to help in some way.
As a follower of Jesus, I believe that each and every one is made in the image of God, fearfully and wonderfully made, to reflect His likeness here on earth.
For now, that belief requires me to focus attention on the fact that black lives matter.
