Member for Lowan Emma Kealy said it is "completely hypocritical and shambolic mismanagement."

If residents of Victorian-South Australian border towns need to cross into Victoria, they will require a travel permit, whereas in border communities on the Victorian-New South Wales line, residents only need to show a drivers licence to prove their residency in these bordering areas.

Ms Kealy said the Victorian-South Australian border communities are being treated unfairly.

"It's completely unacceptable for the government to ignore the fact that Victorian-South Australian border residents need ease of passage across the border," she said.

"The government ignored these communities during the height of Victoria's second wave when border closures came into effect, and they are ignoring them again."

All travellers coming to South Australia are required to complete a Cross Border Travel Registration.

Communities on the border of Victoria and South Australia will need to use the permit system.

The Victorian Government introduced the "traffic light" travel permit scheme in order to support tracing efforts and as a result of the UK variant of COVID-19 in Queensland, and recent clusters and outbreaks in parts of other states.
