Swifts’ perfect start to the season will be on the line when they host Edenhope-Apsley at Stawell on Saturday.
The Baggies have won their first two matches of the season after a bye in round one. The Stawell-based side was tested last weekend, narrowly edging out Rupanyup to pick up the four points.
Inaccuracy in front of goal and a lack of discipline at times nearly cost the Baggies.
Swifts coach Scott Carey said his side knows they “have to be better”.
“There is no need to shy away from the fact we weren’t at our best last weekend,” he said.
“We need to take the pressure away from ourselves by hitting the scoreboard.”
The Baggies will host an in-form Saints unit which recorded its first victory of the season last weekend.
Edenhope-Apsley coach Chris Oliver said he was pleased with the way his team responded last week after two poor opening matches.
“The first couple of rounds we didn’t play to our potential, but we will take confidence out of the way we went about it last weekend,” he said.
“We need more of what I saw last weekend this Saturday.”
Swifts will welcome back a cast of experienced players for the clash.
“Nick Pickering and Cody Virgona come back in after missing last week with work commitments and Ben Martin returns as well,” Carey said.
The Saints are likely to name an unchanged lineup.
“Chris Heath might get up but other than that we won’t make any changes,” Oliver said.
“Guys are working hard to hold their spots and I couldn’t fault them for their efforts last weekend.”
A win over Swifts would be massive for Edenhope-Apsley’s bid to return to finals this season.
Oliver said his side will have to be at its best to claim the four points on the road.
“Shutting some of their key players down like Scott Carey will be a big thing, we can’t let them dominate us,” he said.
“We need to keep up our quick and clean ball movement just like we did last weekend.”
The Baggies struggled against the Saints in 2017, suffering one of just four losses for the season to the them.
Carey said: “I was pretty impressed with the Saints’ performance last weekend. When they are on song they can take it up to anyone.”
“They play a really good brand of football so I expect a challenging game come Saturday.”
Saturday’s game is sure to be a special occasion for the Baggies, with Carey running out for his 200th match.
